I like that this supplement is vegan, non-GMO, Canadian and third-party tested. The issue is they don't disclose what third-party testing they did. The bottle comes with 180 pills, providing a 60 day supply when following the recommended directions of taking 1 pill three times a day. Having to take one of these pills at three separate times isn't very convenient, but considering, each one contains 750 mg, it's not too bad, as you can still get a decent amount even if you were to only take this twice a day. 750 mg seems to be in the middle range. Some l-carnitine supplements only contain around 500 mg in each pill and some contain 1000 mg. The source of l-carnitine in this supplement is synthetic.It's important to be aware that gut bacteria can convert carnitine into trimethylamine (TMA), which then gets converted into trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO). TMAO is associated with an increased risk of some very serious health issues, (Amazon doesn't let me say what those are.). I completely forgot about this fact when I ordered this. Now that I've remembered, I'm not so sure that I will incorporate this into my regimen, as my reasons for getting it don't seem to outweigh the potential risks. And although it seems TMAO levels can fall fairly quickly after intake stops, the same does not appear to be true for microbiome adaptation. Carnitine intake encourages production of gut bacteria that produce TMA, which is the reason why meat-eaters generally have higher TMAO-producing gut bacteria than vegans. Reversion to a low-TMA microbiome after carnitine intake is reduced does not happen immediately. So while I did contemplate using this temporarily, I'd rather not risk increasing my TMA/TMAO levels.All of this is to say is that ensure that your reason for taking carnitine outweighs the potential risks.

While it is said to assist as a pre-workout supplement too, I mostly use it for cognitive support. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if it helps for either use, but Biogenique is a brand I trust and this is a supplement I am willing to use. The capsules were easy to take. I did not have any taste, smell, or aftertaste issues with them, and I did not have any gastrointestinal issue either.
